Dr. Burkett graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2011, where she earned “With Distinction” honors and was inducted into the Phi Zeta Honors Society of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Northeast Indiana Veterinary Emergency and Specialty Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. 

With a deep passion for emergency medicine, Dr. Burkett thrives in fast-paced, high-pressure situations while providing compassionate care. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, but her primary focus is on emergency care. Originally from Indiana, Dr. Burkett now enjoys life in North Carolina, where she embraces the coastal lifestyle. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and unwinding at the beach. Her family pet, Twinkle Star, is a beloved rescue dog who brings joy and companionship to her home. 

Dr. Burkett has been part of the emergency medicine team since 2012, offering expert care to pets in urgent need of medical attention.
